Dreamin' with the Devil

After spending some time in Portland eating lots of delicious ice cream, it was time to challenge myself physically while checking off an item on the good ol' bucket list. Chris and I snuck away into the magical forests to climb a mountain or two. We drove to Mt. Rainier in Washington. It would be my first attempt at backpacking. At schlepping all my shit 6 miles up a mountain. And 6 miles back down again.

I'm not going to lie, I was nervous. But mentally ready for the literal uphill battle that was ahead.  We would be hiking through part of the 90 mile long Wonderland Trail - our camp destination would be Devil's Dream. Hiking about 2500 feet in elevation. Basically, I Stairmastered the shit out of this hike.

With my new adventure gear in tow and my trusty adventure shoes on, I was ready to see if I could do it. It was a mystical journey through one of the oldest National Parks in the country.  Mount Rainier led us through naturey magic at every twist and turn. And Chris (Adventure Guy Photo) was there at every step capturing the journey.

The climb begins right out of the gate.

So many river crossings and streams to splash through.

Hit a clearing, and was smack dab in front of this beauty.

TIP: When crossing a log bridge, always stop to see the view.

Woke up in the morning and saw this magical, rainbow colored spider web just glistening in the sunshine. So I decided to practice my photo skills.

Couldn't stop and NOT splash around in the waterfall

I've always wanted to drink water from a stream - it was ice cold and delicious. (Sterilized it with a sterlipen of course).

Stumbled across this wacky guy growing sideways and stretching for the sunshine.
